Man passes away after being struck by 18-wheeler

WILMINGTON — According to the Wilmington Police Department, a man passed away at the scene of a vehicular accident early Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the 2600 block of Carolina Beach Road around 7:18 a.m. An initial investigation revealed a “male was lying in a blanket in the public vehicular area when he was struck” by an 18-wheeler.

The male, 36 years old, perished at the scene.

WPD continue to investigate the incident and are withholding the victim’s name until his family is notified.
