Suspect removes ankle monitor, flees on foot when served warrant

WILMINGTON — Police detained a 42-year-old suspect on foot after he fled the scene upon being served an arrest warrant Thursday evening.

When WPD arrived on Dec. 2, 11:10 p.m., to serve Kinwana Long a warrant in regard to a stolen vehicle, Long ran to the 600 block of Anderson Street after removing his ankle monitor. The police responded with K9 units and located the suspect. They also recovered the vehicle in the 700 block of Hanover Street.

Long has been charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, interfering with electronic monitoring device, and resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer. He is currently being held under a $25,000 secure bond.
