Filmed in Wilmington, ‘Scream’ releases official trailer

WILMINGTON –– A two-minute trailer for “Scream,” the latest iteration of the horror franchise, dropped Tuesday and is exciting fans of the cult classic nationwide. In Wilmington, the release is particularly significant as it was filmed locally.

Set to release Jan. 14, 2022, “Scream” is the fifth in the line of movies about the villain slasher Ghostface. The movie stars Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courteney Cox, who acted in the first four movies from 1996 to 2011.

The production filmed from August 2020 through November 2020 under the name “Parkside” at EUE/Screen Gems Studios, near Wilmington International Airport. Locations included Country Club Road and Williston Middle School, as well as downtown’s Riverwalk, which is visible in the trailer.
