NEW HANOVER COUNTY –– An estimated 4,200 gallons of untreated wastewater spilled into a tributary of Barnards Creek Thursday.
CFPUA crews responded to the spill around 10:30 a.m. and halted it by 11:45 a.m. They were able to divert some wastewater from the site using pump-and-haul operations.
The spill was caused by a broken valve on a sewer main in the area near the 3800 block of Echo Farms Boulevard.
