Hurricane talk planned with NOAA meteorologist at Pender library

PENDER COUNTY — As southeastern N.C. approaches the height of hurricane season — mid-August to October — the Pender County Library in Burgaw will welcome Steven Pfaff, a warning coordination meteorologist from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Pfaff will speak on Thursday, Aug. 19, 6 p.m., addressing the threat of hurricanes, storm safety and taking proper precautions.

There will be evacuation maps and topics covered regarding evacuation zones and shelter locations. Hurricane prep checklists, and general information about being prepared, from your pets to your home, will be featured.

The talk will take place in the Michael Y. Taylor Meeting Room at the Burgaw library. There is enough room for 100 guests, but preregistration is required: bit.ly/PCLhurricanes or (910) 259-1234 to register.
