SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — North Carolina Department of Transportation announced the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. beginning Sunday and lasting through Thursday. Crews have completed weatherproofing the control house of the bridge and now must clean up, which includes removing scaffolding.
All drivers should take the Isabel Holmes Bridge or Interstate I40 instead. The NCDOT also asks travelers to drive cautiously near the closure and plan for delays that may impede commutes.
The N.C. Department of Transportation suggests drivers needing to get around the closure use the Isabel Holmes Bridge or Interstate 140.
