WILMINGTON –– A TV project is using Cape Fear Public Utility Authority water services for special effects.

The filming for FOX’s “Our Kind of People” will take place near downtown Wilmington between 8 a.m. Thursday, July 22, and 10 p.m. Friday, July 23.

According to a CFPUA news release, 20th Century Television Productions is connecting to the water services near the intersection of South 5th Avenue and Dock Street.

During the shoot, nearby customers may notice periods when pressure is low or water is discolored. This is due to increased usage.

CPFUA is advising customers who notice discoloration to run the water cold for about one to three minutes to clear the lines. Call the Water Quality Unit at 910-332-6738 if the stream is not running clear after five minutes.

The temporary discoloration does not mean the water is unsafe to drink, however, avoid doing a was has it could cause staining in clothes.
