Shooting near Gores Row leaves two injured, police asking for public’s help

WILMINGTON — A drive-by shooting on July 12 around 8:30 p.m. left two injured, while the suspects remain at large, according to a report from the Wilmington Police Department.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert, and upon arrival to the scene, an eyewitness recounted a red Ford Fusion had “people hanging out of the car, shooting rounds at a male.”

Two victims were struck by stray bullets or fragments. One female victim was shot in the leg on Gores Row and was transported to New Hanover Region Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Another woman sustained a wound from a bullet fragment that struck and shattered an object nearby. EMS and Wilmington Fire Department treated the victim at the scene.

WPD is asking for the public to call (910) 343-3609 with any information that may help the investigation.
