NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Starting next week, an N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close a portion of N.C. 140. The closures will take place between midnight and 5 a.m.
The westbound lanes between I-40 and Market Street will be closed on May 10 and 11. The eastbound lanes will close on May 12 and 13.
The contractor may work on May 14 to continue work on the eastbound side, according to an NCDOT release.
A detour route will be available for drivers to instead take I-140, Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway, and Market Street. “Drivers should be mindful of a potential longer commute and remain alert,” NCDOT’s release states.
