YWCA Lower Cape Fear has opened registration for YWCA’s 35th Annual Women of Achievement Awards on March 11.

WILMINGTON – YWCA has set a date for this year’s 35th Women of Achievement Awards.

The ceremony will be held virtually at 6 p.m. Thursday, March 11.

The annual event recognizes women and young leaders as well as raises funds to benefit YWCA, which work towards racial justice and economic advancement among women, children and their families in southeastern North Carolina through its programming.

The event is open to all. Attendees must register at womenofachievement.swell.gives.

During the virtual event, YWCA will recognize Sheila Boles with the 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award, an honor given each year to a local woman who has exhibited excellence and dedication to their careers, schools and communities. Boles volunteers with the Miracle League and sits on the Wilmington Sports Hall of Fame Board of Directors and the Board of Education at Flemington Academy at the Boys and Girls Home.

“Boles was chosen for the Award based on her years of service and commitment to eliminating racism and empowering women,” according to YWCA statement. “Throughout her career Sheila was an integral force in the community.”
