WILMINGTON — Effective immediately, Feb. 15, Cape Fear Public Utility Authority issued an emergency precautionary boil water advisory. It will impact around 200 customers from 1501 to 1527 Willoughby Park Court and all of Honeybee Lane.

Customers should boil their water for one minute and allow it to fully cool before consumption, including drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, preparing food or baby formula, washing fruits and vegetables, etc. According to CFPUA, crews are repairing a leak on a water main and working to restore service.

“Periods of low or no pressure in the water distribution system increase the potential for back siphonage and introduction of bacteria into the water system,” CFPUA wrote in a release.

CFPUA labs will test the water before lifting the advisory as to make sure it’s safe for consumption.
