WILMINGTON – A street gang leader in Wilmington who recruited minors into his crimes was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in federal prison, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
Tymir “Dolla” Wigfall, 27, of New Hanover County was investigated by the FBI and the Wilmington Police Department.
Between November 2019 and May 19, 2020, Wigfall sold fentanyl, carfentanil (an analogue of fentanyl) and heroin to Wilmington police during seven controlled purchases, according to evidence presented in court.
In multiple exchanges he provided juveniles with narcotics and had them complete the deals.
On March 10, Wigfall directed a juvenile to make a heroin sale. The same juvenile was deployed to another exchange with a mixture of fentanyl and carfentanil on March 18.
In a third controlled purchase, on March 19, a different juvenile, who appeared to have a gun in his waistband, sold fentanyl and heroin.
Wigfall was sentenced for conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and distribution of a quantity of heroin and fentanyl; two counts of distribution of fentanyl and carfentanil; distribution of a quantity of heroin and fentanyl; distribution of a quantity of fentanyl; distribution of a quantity of fentanyl (aiding and abetting); employing, hiring, using, persuading, enticing or coercing a person under 18 to distribute fentanyl; and distribution of quantity of fentanyl and heroin (aiding and abetting).
Wigfall has a long felonious history. He was previously convicted for possession of a firearm with an altered serial number in 2010; possession of heroin in 2010; sale of heroin and possession with intent to deliver heroin within 1000 feet of a school in 2014; and interfering with an electronic monitoring device in 2017. While serving time in the North Carolina Department of Correction, Wigfall was cited for numerous infractions.
