Wilmington police ask for help in year-long murder investigation

WILMINGTON – Wilmington police are still seeking information on who killed William Springer this time last year.

A year ago today, on Dec. 29, officers near the 1100 block of Castle Street heard shots fired close by just before 2 a.m., according to a City of Wilmington news release.

The police located Springer, 35, as he was suffering a gunshot wound. While waiting for emergency medical services to arrive, the officers performed life-saving measures on the man, although he later died in the hospital from his injuries.


The department is offering up to $2,000 to anyone who brings forth information leading to an arrest in the case.
