BRUNSWICK COUNTY – Town Creek Elementary School in Winnabow has turned Wednesday into a teacher workday due to a “staffing issue.”
The school is simultaneously dealing with increased Covid-19 activity that has caused it to transition to remote learning Thursday.
On Thursday, all grade levels will learn from home. The next day, Friday, is the start of the break for students.
According to the district’s Covid-19 dashboard, there have been nine confirmed cases of the coronavirus this week at the elementary school. Sixty-three people have been asked to quarantine after coming in contact with another positive individual.
The school system has reported 115 cases in its facilities since Sept. 21. Of those, 82 are recovered.
Next semester, Brunswick County Schools will revert back to Plan C, requiring all grade levels to learn remotely between Jan. 6 through Jan. 19.
The school board will consider returning schools back to in-person instruction after reviewing Covid-19 infection numbers at a later date.
