Brunswick spills 6,500 gallons of sewage, reaches Lockwood Folly river

BRUNSWICK COUNTY — Brunswick County discharged between 6,000 and 7,000 gallons of partially treated wastewater Thursday.

The spill was discovered at 11:30 pm. Thursday and lasted 1.5 hours. The wastewater was discharged from a stormwater pond into a tributary of the Lockwood Folly River.

It originated from a manhole at the West Brunswick Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant in Supply.
