Special Podcast: Let’s talk about Covid-19 coverage, rumors, and future stories [Free listen]

As of Wednesday morning, there were 63 confirmed cases in North Carolina, but only one in the Cape Fear area. Despite that, the impact of the virus on everyday life has been profound. (Port City Daily photo illustration/Courtesy CDC)

Covid-19 is dominating the headlines and causing major disruptions in the everyday life of many Americans. That’s no different here in the Wilmington area.

This podcast focuses on what we’ve reported so far, which has been largely by the book — facts and figures, cancelations, and the new rules for life in the Wilmington area (you can find updated state figures on numbers for testing and confirmed cases here). In the coming days and weeks, we’d like to turn to the deeper stories. What’s life like in the new normal? How are people coping — and what happens when they can’t?

We want to hear about your experiences. Got children home from school? Have a business that’s been threatened by the new restrictions? Have you been through the Covid-19 testing process? Let us know at info@portcitydaily.com — or reach out to one of our reporters (you can find contact info at the bottom of their articles).

Also in this podcast, we touch on some of the myths and rumors we’ve heard. Have your own thoughts on the outbreak? Let us know.

Lastly, know that we will preserve time and space for non-Covid-19 issues, and we continue to work on stories covering crime, development, the school system, the hospital sale process, local government and more (so if you’re sick of hearing about the outbreak, check out our regularly scheduled Podcast this Saturday).
