NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A national park that was closed due to flooding is reopening Tuesday.

Pender County’s Moores Creek National Battlefield and its visitor center will reopen to visitors around 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

According to park members, the maintenance staff barricaded trails still experiencing flooding; this includes below the Women’s Monument and across from the boardwalk and Moores Creek Bridge.

Staff requests the public avoid going around the barricades. Accessibility remains on the History Trail through the earthworks and Tar Heel and Woodpecker trails.
