BURGAW — The town of Burgaw’s popular summertime Blueberry Festival may be months away but it’s beginning its annual fundraising efforts with a pancake breakfast.

Proceeds from the fundraiser go toward the association’s academic scholarship program. The fundraiser gives graduating seniors from Bladen, Duplin, New Hanover, Pender, and Sampson counties scholarships in the amount of $4,000 each. Eligible applicants can apply here. The number of scholarships awarded is based on available funding.

The community can attend the Blueberry Pancake Breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Burgaw fire station from 8 to 11 a.m. For adults and children above the age of 5, a $10 dollar donation includes a blueberry pancake breakfast with sausage and beverage of choice. Children under 5 can eat for a $1 donation.

Tickets for the fundraiser are available for purchase at the door or in advance by contacting the NC Blueberry Festival office at 910-259-2007 or by email at info@ncblueberryfestival.com.
