Time for the pups to plunge into Legion Stadium pool

WILMINGTON — One way to tell the warmer temps are well on the way to cooling down comes with the end-of-season dip for area canines.

Annually, YMCA and City of Wilmington host the Pooch Plunge. Dogs are welcome to swim in the Legion Stadium Pool, 2131 Carolina Beach Rd., Sept. 6 through 9.

The cost is $5 per dog per day, cash only. All dogs must be up to date on vaccines and only the quadrupeds are allowed in the pool, not humans, per health department regulations.

Handlers are responsible for their pets’ behavior and aggressive dogs aren’t allowed.

The schedule is:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 6: 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, Sept. 7: 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Sept. 8: 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 9: noon – 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 10: noon – 5 p.m.
