NEW HANOVER COUNTY — With a local shortage of Christmas trees and an uptick in demand for holiday decorations, it’s clear folks are escaping the pandemic reality in favor of a more cheerful mood.

The City of Wilmington and the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce are each hosting holiday light contests.
