WILMINGTON — Best friends Bandit and Sparky were running out of lives and luck, until the rescue organization All 4 Cats (A4C) offered them a second chance.
“We took them in, they were sickly,” A4C president Monica Filyaw said. “But they’ve put on two to three pounds now,” she added, waving a feather for Bandit, who quickly pounced on his newest toy.
A bonded pair, Bandit and Sparky are searching for a forever home that will adopt them together.
“A bonded pair means that they do more than just cohabitate,” Filyaw explained. “They sleep together, they look for each other, they play together. If you separated them, they would be very sad and depressed, so they must be adopted together.”
A special favorite of junior A4C volunteer Reese Priddle, 13, Bandit and Spark have adopted some playful tendencies that endear them to all who have met them.
“They hug each other,” Priddle said. “They purr so loudly, you can hear them anywhere. They never stop playing unless they’re passed out cold.”
Due to their outgoing personalities and young age, it is possible that Bandit and Sparky could adapt to a variety of households.
“We don’t know how they do around dogs, so a proper introduction would be key,” Filyaw said. “They are very friendly, they would be very tolerant of playing dress-up,” she added, observing that a home with supervised children could be a good fit.
Prospective adopters interested in offering a home to Bandit and Sparky may fill out an application online, at www.all4cats.org The adoption fee is $160 combined. Individual cats are otherwise $80.
