SHALLOTTE — West Brunswick jumped out to an early two score lead and the defense recorded a shutout for the second time in as many weeks on Homecoming Night in Shallotte as the Trojans cruised to a 25-0 win against Topsail.

Running back Bubba McCray eclipsed the 1,000 yard rushing mark and added three more touchdowns to his season total in the result. The senior got going early with an eight yard score following a Topsail turnover to give West Brunswick a 7-0 lead. A 55-yard run by McCray put the home team in front 13-0 after the opening quarter, while Owen McDowell hit Russ Gore midway through the second period on a short pass for the touchdown.

McCray scored his third touchdown of the game early in the second half to send the Trojans to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in conference.

He finished with 14 carries for 153 yards. West Brunswick had 288 total yards of offensive on 39 plays. The Trojans have now won four games in a row heading into a game at South Brunswick on Friday, Oct. 7.
