Two-time Super Bowl Most Valuable Player and NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw will be visiting the Port City in June to speak at a fundraiser.

The Pittsburgh Steelers legend and current Sunday Fox NFL co-host will give the keynote address at Coastal Horizons Center’s 2016 Annual Luncheon, which will be held on Friday, June 10 at the Wilmington Convention Center.

Bradshaw gained fame on the field as the play-caller of the Steelers in the 1970s. After being selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 1970 NFL Draft out of Louisiana Tech University, Bradshaw led Pittsburgh to four AFC Championships and four Super Bowl wins between 1974 – 1979. He was also named the NFL MVP by the Associated Press as well as NFL Quarterback of the Year in 1978.

Outside of football, Bradshaw has extended his talents to other fields, authoring several books and releasing country gospel albums. The Shreveport, La. native has also appeared in TV shows and feature films and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2001, the first and only NFL player to be awarded the honor.

The All-American icon has also struggled with anxiety attacks and depression and has spoken openly about it. He will be sharing his experience about dealing with depression throughout his career at the fundraiser for the Wilmington-based non-profit organization, which provides services to citizens in eastern North Carolina who are dealing with substance abuse, mental health issues and sexual trauma, among others. The luncheon was originally scheduled for March 3 but was postponed when Bradshaw had to undergo emergency ankle surgery.

“We are delighted that Terry Bradshaw has ‘Immaculately Rescheduled!'” said Coastal Horizons President and CEO Margaret Weller-Stargell in a news release, referencing a pass Bradshaw made in 1972 that became known as the “Immaculate Reception.” “His personal and candid story of living with depression will help educate and engage our community in the important work of Coastal Horizons.”

Individual tickets for the event, which will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., are $125. Sponsorships starting at $1,250 are also available. For more information, contact Jamie Thompson at (910) 790-0187 or visit www.coastalhorizons.org.
