Got an old two-wheeler taking up space in your garage?
You can do a little spring cleaning – and help some area youth – by donating your bicycle to local non-profit A Bike for Every Child. The organization’s mission is to ensure all children get to experience the “joy, confidence and well-being” of owning their own bicycle, according to its website.
The organization will collect used bikes for Brigade Boys and Girls Club members now through Tuesday, March 15. Bicycles may be dropped off at any Lowe’s Foods in Wilmington, Hampstead and Leland.
Collected bikes will then be cleaned up and repaired during Tune-up Days on June 1 and 2 at Brigade. With some help from local bicycle shops and volunteers, the boys and girls receiving the bikes will be actively involved in refurbishing process, while learning some repair skills. A revamped bike will then be given to every child at Brigade on June 6.
