The international women’s soccer friendly between UNCW and the Puerto Rico National Team has been moved to tonight (Tuesday, Feb. 2) at UNCW Soccer Stadium.
The match, which was scheduled to take place on Wednesday, was moved because of wet weather forecast for the area on Wednesday. The match is still scheduled for a 7 p.m. kickoff and admission is free.
“It’s an exciting prospect to play an international team as they prepare for the CONCACAF Olympic qualifiers,” Coach Paul Cairney said. “In addition, it’s quite early in the spring, so we will find out a lot about our young team.”
The Seahawks are coming off a school-record 15-win campaign and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament after earning a 2-0 victory at South Carolina. Puerto Rico is preparing for the 2016 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying Championship scheduled for Feb. 10-21 in Houston.
