The Wilmington Family YMCA announces the arrival of TRX Training. TRX is a workout system that leverages gravity and an individual’s body weight to perform combinations of strength, aerobic and stretching exercises. TRX classes will begin the week of April 15, according to a press release from the YMCA.
YMCA and community members can attend the grand opening 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 6, for a free sample workout.
“The beauty of TRX exercise is the suitability for everyone. TRX is designed to accommodate individuals of all levels. Your body positioning affects the level of intensity and difficulty of each workout with over 100 exercise options,” YMCA Healthy Living Director Dalia Nir said. “They can also be used for rehabilitation purposes.”
Classes will meet once a week for a total of seven weeks, including an initial required orientation class. The classes are scheduled for 5:30-6:30 p.m. Mondays, 8:30-9:30 a.m. Wednesdays, and 6-7 a.m. Thursdays. The classes will be limited to 12 participants to allow for more individualized attention.
“We are excited about this new addition at our facility,” said YMCA Director of Operations Shannon Berg. “It is important for the Y to explore new wellness offerings and TRX is one of the latest fitness trends.”
TRX class registration opens at noon Monday, April 8.
The Wilmington Family YMCA has been part of this community for more than 120 years and serves more than 8,000 people each year, including 2,000 children under the age of 18. For more information, visit www.wilmingtonfamilyymca.org or call (910) 251-9622.
