WINNABOW — Martha Faye Cherry, 78, went to be with her heavenly father Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.

She was born Sept. 23, 1938, the daughter of the late John Everett and Lila Blanche Cavanaugh. Also remembered is her husband, R.D. Cherry, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are two daughters, Wanda O’Sullivan, and her husband, Terry, of Winnabow, N.C., Teresa Caison, and her husband, Curtis, of Rocky Point, N.C.; three sons, Terry Cherry, Ronnie Cherry and Jerry Cherry, all of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Sara Caison Pearce (Brandon) and Casey Caison; great-grandson, Luke Pearce; brother, Jesse Cavanaugh; and many nieces and nephews.

Martha was a loving mother and friend to everyone.

Tuesday, March 28, at The Pentecostals of Wilmington with the Rev. Floyd Morris officiating. Pallbearers will be Casey Caison, Brandon Pearce, Mike Rhodes, Richard Heimbach, Richard Heimbach Jr. and Trevor Heimbach. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
