SOUTHPORT — Joan Delores Van Noordt, 79, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 5, 2017, surrounded by her family.
Joan was born April 19, 1937, to the late Joseph and Bessie McPeek. She was a longtime member of the Oak Island Golf Club and had been and avid golfer for 30 years. Joan enjoyed living near the beach and spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing Bunco and Bridge with her friends, and had volunteered with the Board of Elections as a prescient judge.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond W. Van Noordt; brother, Raymond Johnson; sister, Dorothy Roe; and daughter-in-law, Samone Van Noordt (Glenn’s wife).
Survivors include her five sons, Todd Van Noordt, and his wife, Candy, of Forest, Va., Brett Van Noordt of St. Albans, Vt., Ross Van Noordt, and his wife, Debra Price, of Round Rock, Texas, Glenn Van Noordt of Drayden, Md., and Scott Van Noordt, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Southport, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Jayme, Heather, Robert, Wesley, Austin, Michael and Rachel; and six great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 11, at the Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends following the service until 4 p.m.
