OAK ISLAND — Sharon Elizabeth Adams Wilkinson, 61, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2017.

Sharon was born Nov. 5, 1955, in Silver Springs, Md. She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina Dental Hygienist Program and had worked as a hygienist. Sharon enjoyed walking on the beach and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed fishing and volunteering her time to helping others. Sharon loved God and knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Thomas Brent Wilkinson of Columbia, S.C.; stepdaughter, Michelle Douglas of Clayton, N.C.; two brothers, Leonard D. Adams of Pawley’s Island, S.C., and Chris K. Gillians of Indian Trail; stepfather, James R. Gillians of Charlotte; and two step-grandchildren, David Douglas and Robert Douglas.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28, at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charlie Carter officiating. A reception will follow the service in the funeral home banquet room.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Sharon’s memory to a women’s shelter of your choice.
