WILMINGTON — Traffic heading onto the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge off South Front Street in Wilmington was still being blocked early Wednesday afternoon, several hours after a tractor trailer overturned on the on-ramp.

According to Wilmington Fire Department Battalion Chief David Hines, the trailer was loaded with dry bulk cement and some product spilled out, but did not pose a threat to the area.

The driver of the truck was transported to the emergency room. No other injuries are being reported.

Fire crews, law enforcement and other wreck respondents were out on the scene until late Wednesday morning. Fire crews cleared the scene of the wreck at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Hines said. By noon, two wrecker trucks, a crane and two pumper emergency trucks had arrived on scene in an effort to remove the trailer from the on ramp.

Traffic onto the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge from Wooster Street and other traffic is no affected by the wreck.
