SHALLOTTE — Facebook lost a loyal “liker” on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017. Virginia “Gee Gee” Salmon Lewis passed with peace and grace with her family at her side.

She was preceded in death by her daddy, Frank D. Salmon; mama, Audrey F. Salmon; and brother, Bill Salmon.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen Jones (Eddy), Heather Hardwick (Kris) and Martha Kane; grands, Sidney, Copper Roo, Amazing Grace, Elijah Bear, Kelby, Kerby and Holland; sister, Donna Davis (Colon); and five nephews, Greg, Jeff, Anthony, Wes and Will.

Gee Gee was born on Nov. 23, 1947, in Ashland, Ky. She was the “Jack of All Trades” and the “Master of Many.” She was known for her cakes, cooking and waiting until the last minute to start and finish something. She also enjoyed crafting, game nights with family, smoking cigarettes, watching The Weather Channel, Orange Crush with lots of ice, Lays plain potato chips, staying up all night and sleeping all day. She loved her girls unconditionally and that love reached a whole new level when Sidney Leigh was born. Gee Gee’s heart was bigger than life. She would have given you the shirt off of her back and offered you a dollar, even if she didn’t have it.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Camp United Methodist Church, Shallotte, N.C. The family would like to encourage you to wear something purple. A reception with her favorite foods will follow.

The family would like to thank the SECU Hospice House for their genuine care and love during their mother’s last days.

She leaves us rich in memories and laughter.
