NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A 19-year-old New Hanover County man will serve between 10 and 21 months in jail after admitting to prostituting a 17-year-old girl.
Philip Scott Pleasants on Thursday pleaded guilty to promoting prostitution.
Prosecutors said Pleasants drove a 17-year-old girl to places in response to calls for prostitution services, after which he kept part of the proceeds.
“Detectives approached both the female and Pleasants at the Budgetel Inn on Market Street,” a press release from District Attorney Ben David’s office states. “Philips admitted his participation in the promotion of prostitution.”
Pleasants received a 10 to 21 month active sentence, which will be followed by a period of post-release supervision, according to David’s office.
