WILMINGTON — A 42-year-old woman shot and killed a man she claims invaded her home Monday night.

Willie Franklin Stith III, 35, was shot and killed at the home in the 5000 block of Hunt Club Road at about 11 p.m. Monday, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Linda Rawley.

The woman told police she was returning home from work Sunday night, when Stith allegedly forced her into her home at gunpoint. Stith is then said to have beaten the woman and tied her up. The woman broke free, reached for a gun and fired one shot at Stith, Rawley said.

Police found Stith near the front door of the home upon arrival at the scene. Rawley said no charges have been filed at this time.
