For T.J. Drechsel, living on the beautiful coast of North Carolina is a special thing.
He loves where he lives, especially in the summer months. Often though his wanderlust kicks in during the off-season months.
This year, among many destinations, the Wilmington resident traveled to the famed central coast of California where he had the privilege of spending two nights in the famous valley of Yosemite.

He caught the season’s first snowfall, which he described as “simply breathtaking in a place so full of nature”. Because of the snow, however, Drechsel wasn’t able to hit some iconic hikes like Taft Point and Glacier Point.
This only meant a return trip is now on the agenda, he said.
Yosemite National Park is in California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. It is famous for its giant, ancient sequoia trees, Tunnel View, the iconic vista of towering Bridalveil Fall and the granite cliffs of El Capitan and Half Dome.
The Yosemite Village features shops, restaurants, lodging, the Yosemite Museum and the Ansel Adams Gallery, with prints of the photographers’ renowned black-and-white landscapes of the area.
If you search online for photos from these points, you’ll see exactly how majestic this place can be. More than 4 million people visit the valley each year, so if you go, be sure to plan your trip accordingly and well ahead of schedule.
There are 58 national parks in the United States and Yosemite is easily one of the most popular destinations, and for good reason. It is Drechsel’s hope that his photos help motivate and inspire others to visit Yosemite or plan another new travel destination in the very near future.
