James Monroe “Butch” Sherrill Jr., 69, enjoyed gardening and collecting cars

SHALLOTTE — James Monroe “Butch” Sherrill Jr., 69, died Monday, Dec. 19, 2016.

Mr. Sherrill was born in Gaston County, N.C., on Oct. 26, 1947, and was the son of the late James Monroe Sherrill Sr. and Elener Dilling Sherrill. He retired from Intracoastal Services as an installer in the HVAC industry. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed gardening and collecting cars.

Butch is survived by two children, Megan Sherrill of Shallotte and Shawn Robbins of Supply; stepdaughter, Cindy Robbins of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Rylon, Haley, Draven and Cody; three sisters, Diana Calloway of Ocean Isle, Kathy Gettman of Bolivia and Teresa Scott of Ocean Isle.

A celebration of life service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at Lighthouse Baptist Church, Old Ocean Highway, Bolivia, with Pastor Robert Lucas officiating.
