WILMINGTON — Grab a sip, a nibble and give to a local non-profit organization at the 4th Annual 12 Tastes of Christmas this Friday.

The event, benefiting the Cape Fear Literacy Council, will take place at the Brooklyn Arts Center, 516 N. Fourth St., from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 9. The theme this year is retro-tiki holiday. This annual soiree invites local restaurants and bars to each create a signature holiday sip or bite for guests to sample.

Ukelele tunes by Zach Hanner will greet the guests, with DJ Free Waterfall providing entertainment for the evening.

Cape Fear Literacy Council is the recipient of a flower grant from Julia’s Florist, which will be providing themed floral arrangements for the event.

Food and beverages will be provided by; Beer Barrio, Boombalattis, Caprice Bistro, Dead Crow Comedy Room, Delish NC, Dram and Morsel, Flytrap Brewing, Folks Cafe, Goat & Compass, JohnnyLukes KitchenBar, Mission BBQ, Ocean Grill & Tiki Bar, Port City Farmers Market Kitchen, Port City Java, Soulful Twist, The Blind Elephant, The District Kitchen & Cocktails, The Reel Cafe, Wake N’ Bake Donuts, Waterline Brewing, and Wilmington Brewing Company.

Since its inception, 12 Tastes has raised more $30,000 for the Literacy Council & Adult Literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs.

Created by Nina Bays Cournoyer and Katherine Clark, in conjunction with Cape Fear Literacy Council Director of Fund Development Erin Payne, the idea behind 12 Tastes is to create affordable giving both for individuals and small businesses, keeping ticket prices and sponsor levels within reach for most budgets.

Tickets are $30 each in advance. A limited number will be sold at the door for $40, depending on availability. The event has sold out tickets for the last three years.
