Victim from Tuesday afternoon shooting dies; Wilmington Police ID victim

WILMINGTON — The victim in the Tuesday afternoon shooting in the 100-block of Gores Row has died, according to Wilmington Police Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay.

Wilmington Police responded to a 911 call to the area just after 1 p.m. When police arrived on the scene, they found 35-year-old Vincent Lamont Blakey suffering from a gunshot wound.

Blakey was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

A large crowd was in the area when the shooting happened, and police are asking anyone with information regarding Blakey’s death to contact the Wilmington Police Department at 343-3609.
