ST. JAMES — Joan Delores Power, 79, passed away peacefully with her family by her side Friday, April 7, 2017.
Mrs. Power was born July 25, 1937, in New Jersey to the late John and Julia McQueen. Joan was raised in Fair Haven and raised her family in Wall, N.J. She and her husband retired to North Carolina in 1988. Joan was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she was active in the Ladies’ Guild. She was an avid gardener, an award-winning watercolor artist and a remarkable friend to many.
Mrs. Power is survived by her husband, Jerome Power; son, Tod Dean, and his wife, Ruth, of Clayton, N.C.; daughter, Susan Capozzoli, and her husband, Richard, of Pequannock, N.J.; six grandchildren, Christopher Brause, Chris Capozzoli, Corinne Falgares, Danny Capozzoli, Melissa Hill and Jeffrey Hogan; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.Mrs. Power was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Jay McQueen.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Trent Watts officiating. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium.
