Marshall Rudolph Williams, 94, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Davis Health Care Center in Wilmington, N.C. He was born May 12, 1922, in Raleigh, N.C., to the late Harrison Boyd Williams and Mabel Gill Williams.
During World War II, Marshall served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He later graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.S. in commerce. Marshall remained a lifelong Tar Heels fan. Prior to moving to Wilmington, Marshall lived in Asheboro, N.C., for many years, where he was the CEO of BB Walker Shoe Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three siblings and two nieces.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; daughters, Jan Toomes, and her husband, Steve, of Wilmington, Patricia Bair, and her husband, Craig, of Sanford, Fla.; son, Greg, and his wife, Suzy, of Norcross, Ga.; and six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate Marshall’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at Pine Valley Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Pine Valley Methodist Church, Davis Health Care Center, or the Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
