SHALLOTTE — David Mark Turner, 53, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, Myrtle Beach, S.C.

David was born May 17, 1963, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to the late Donald and Edna Lively Turner. After high school, he attended the University of Tennessee, where he played and excelled in baseball. David pursued his love of baseball locally by coaching with the Shallotte Dixie Youth Baseball in Shallotte for many years. He attended New Beginnings Community Church.

Surviving are his loving wife, Cynthia Barr Turner of the home; son, Austin Charles Turner of Chapel Hill, N.C.; daughter, Courtney Helene Turner of Raleigh, N.C.; two brothers, Wayne Turner of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Ronald Turner of Monteagle, Tenn.; brother-in-law, C. Daniel Barr of Kent, Conn.; nephew, Noah Turner of Monteagle, Tenn.; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Sandra Barr of Shallotte.
