WILMINGTON — A Wilmington teen has been charged with murder in connection with the murder of 17-year-old Raymond Kain V one week ago in the Seagate area.

Tyler Matthew Yee, 17, was arrested Tuesday morning by U.S. Marshals in the 5700 block of Park Avenue, according to Wilmington Police Department Spokeswoman Cathryn Lindsay. He faces charges of first-degree murder and possession of a handgun by a minor.

Yee has been charged in connection with the shooting death of Kain, who was originally found after police responded to a traffic collision involving a cyclist and a car in the 100 block of Sebrell Avenue at 11 p.m., March 9.

Police found the body of the 17-year-old victim lying in the roadway at the scene. Detectives later determined that the victim’s fatal injuries were not the result of the traffic crash, but from a fatal gunshot wound, Lindsay said.

Yee was arrested Tuesday without incident. He is being held at the New Hanover County Jail without bond. He is scheduled for a first-appearance in New Hanover County District Court on Wednesday morning, Lindsay said.
