WILMINGTON — You may not find any pots of gold on St. Patrick’s Day this year, but head down 17th Street and you’ll find buckets of popcorn.

Stone Theatres will open its new 14-theater complex, dubbed The Point 14, on Friday, March 17, according to a press release.

The new cinema complex is an anchor for the 34-acre mixed-use development known as The Point at Barclay. It’s a joint venture between Cameron Properties Land Company of Wilmington and Collett & Associates of Charlotte now underway at 17th Street and Independence Boulevard.

According to the company, the high-tech theater will use laser projection in both 2-D and 3-D, modern sound equipment, captioning and descriptive audio services, luxury club seating, and a wall-to-wall “over-sized screen” to create “a fully immersive movie experience.”

Concessions include: Pizzeria Uno, Eisenberg All-Beef Hotdogs, Pretzels, Nachos, White Castle Burgers, and chicken fingers.

And then, there are the opening weekend freebies.

Grand Opening activities, according to the release, include: free popcorn March 17-19, games and other lobby activities and prizes.

A full slate of opening weekend movies has yet to be announced. However, Disney’s new live-action version of “Beauty and The Beast” has already been confirmed.
