Trader Joe’s is recalling three of its jarred apple sauces due to concerns that there may be glass in the product.
The recall, announced by the Federal Food and Drug Administration on Monday, affects 24-ounce products. Two sold nationally, another sold in western states. The recall was initiated by the producer, Manzana Products Company, after customer complaints about pieces of glass in the applesauce.
All product has been removed from store shelves and destroyed, according to the FDA. Customers who purchased the products can return them to their nearest Trader Joe’s for a refund.
Customers can find the “Best Before” date stamped on the lid. Affected products are:
Trader Joe’s Organic Unsweetened Apple Sauce, sold nationally with a Universal Product Code (UPC)of 0194877, all dates through Oct. 6, 2018;
Trader Joe’s First Crush Unsweetened Gravenstein Apple Sauce, sold nationally with a UPC of 00015905, all dates through Aug. 8, 2018;
Trader Joe’s All Natural Unsweetened Apple Sauce, which was sold in 13 states, including California, Arizona, Texas, Utah and Alabama. It has a UPC code of 00014359. Look for all dates through Dec. 16, 2018.
