OAK ISLAND — Participants will ‘flock’ to the North Carolina beach town of Oak Island to participate in the Oak Island Lighthouse Walk/Run on Saturday, April 22. The event, sponsored by Dosher Memorial Hospital, offers fitness activities on the beautiful coast for all levels with a half marathon, 10k, 5k and One Mile Fun Run.
Embracing the coastal vibe Lighthouse Run/Walk participants are encouraged to run in their favorite Jimmy Buffett inspired attire.
Additional activities for participants include a Welcome Party on Friday night with live entertainment and Saturday’s Chalk Art at the Start, live entertainment and fun contests with cash prizes like the flip flop fling, hula hoop, costume, miss latitude and mr. longitude.
Registration for the Oak Island Lighthouse Run is now open online with the early registration deadline fast approaching on Wednesday, March 15.
Those registering after March 15 will spend more to register for the event and will not be guaranteed a T-shirt.
Plan on bringing the little ones for the One Mile Fun Run. The goal is to bring fun to the whole family. The One Mile Fun Run is a free event, sponsored by Brunswick Air and is a great introduction into the world of fitness for the whole family.
