WILMINGTON — Coastal Paws recently celebrated its grand opening at the iconic Cotton Exchange in Downtown Wilmington. The ceremonies included a ribbon cutting attended by Mayor Pro Tem Margaret Haynes, friends and family and officials with Wilmington Downtown Inc. (WDI).
Coastal Paws is owned and operated by Ruthie Halko and Kathleen White. The shop is a neighborhood pet store that offers fun, unique and quality products. They carry an array of pet supplies, accessories, tasty and healthy treats as well as fun gifts that pet lovers would cherish.
The store is located in the main breezeway that is flanked by the lanterns along North Front Street. Upon entering the cozy and adorable shop, visitors may be fooled by healthy food treats formulated for pets rather the humans. The store also has other supplies to pamper pets including artistic bowls, collars, leashes, clothing and toys.
For owners, the store also has an array of art work that features various breeds and would enrich the home of any pet lover.
The Cotton Exchange features over 30 locally owned shops and restaurants. Free customer parking is available on the Water Street side of the building.
As part of the opening ceremonies, Coastal Paws found a home for one dog needing adoption. They also offered raffles for gift baskets and store merchandise with all ticket proceeds going to Adopt an Angel.
“Downtown is a great location for entrepreneurs, especially people committed to social concerns like animal welfare,” said WDI President Ed Wolverton. “We are excited to welcome Ruthie and Kathleen into our community of merchants,” he said.
Coastal Paws Retail and Barkery is located at 339 N. Front Street. The store can be reached by phone at 910.612.9895 and can be found on-line at www.coastalpawsnc.com and on Facebook. Of course, dogs are welcome to browse inside the store.
