Mrs. Argienell “Doll,” “Nell,” “Mom” Spears Giles, 79, born April 27, 1937, the sixth child of the late Joe Willie Spears Sr. and Idella Winston Spears in Cario, Ill., passed away peacefully Feb. 4, 2017, in Stone Mountain, Ga.

She confessed her faith in Christ at an early age while in Cario. She attended Alexander Central High School in Tamms, Ill. Upon completion of school, she moved to Gary, Ind., where she met and married the love of her life, Rudolph Giles. This union was blessed with four daugthers. Because of Rudolph’s military service, the family lived oversees and stateside on military bases.

Throughout her adult life, she worked as a cashier and bookkeeper. In addition to her job, she was also a homemaker. Nell served her Lord and Savior by using her God-given talent of singing in various church choirs throughout her travels.

After the death of her husband in 2000, she moved to Wilmington in 2002 and became a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed singing with the Gospel Choir until her health began to fail. Nell also loved bowling and was a member of Wilmington Bowling league and TNBA, and was instrumental in securing championships for her leagues.

Nell was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

She is survived by her daughters, Dale Faye (James) Wilson and Pamela Richardson, both of Stone Mountain, Ga., Donna Parson of Fort Stewart, Ga., and Inga (Milton) Alston of Calabash, N.C., two sisters, Maizie Faust and Patricia Love of Merrillville, Ind.; six grandchildren, one very special niece/granddaughter and 12 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. We will all miss her dearly.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 3701 Princess Place, Wilmington, (Phone: 910-251-8772). Viewing will be held from noon to 1 p.m. followed by the funeral service. Nell will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 1311 Shipyard Blvd.,Wilmington.
