Ed or “Mr. B.,” as he was sometimes called, was a devoted member of Sunset Park Baptist Church and the most generous and loving person you would ever meet.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Benton.

He is survived by his daughters, Donna Schreiner and Ginger Newton, both of Wilmington; and two grandchildren, Lacey and David Schreiner, both of Wilmington.

“Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your head and share with me God wanted me now, he set me free.”

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Sunset Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Wroten officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
