SUNSET BEACH — George Daniel Scheidle, 80, formerly of Hillsdale, N.J., passed away Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, while skiing in Banner Elk, N.C.

George lived life to the fullest and was always ready to go on an adventure. If skiing was his passion, golf was his albatross; although, he never let it beat him. He was a past exalted ruler and past district deputy of the Park Ridge, N.J., Elks Lodge and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an active member of his community and served in many volunteer positions. He was a proud father and beaming grandfather and great-grandfather.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Gerner Scheidle; daughters, Karen Curts (Bob) of Sunset Beach, Lisa Farrell (Michael) of Westwood, N.J., and Dana Lorber (Robert) of Brewster, N.Y.; brothers, Daniel Scheidle of Bakersfield, Calif., and Ronald Scheidle of Woodcliff Lake, N.J.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, Shallotte.
