WILMINGTON — Detectives with the Wilmington Police Department are investigating a drive-by shooting on Wooster Street.

A ShotSpotter alert came in at 9:23 p.m. Saturday, in the 1400 block of Wooster Street, according to Wilmington Police Spokeswoman Linda Rawley.

Officers responding to the scene were called to New Hanover Regional Medical Center for a male that was driven to the hospital in a private vehicle.

The male victim was shot twice in the leg, Rawley said. He reported to police that he was walking in the area when four males in a vehicle drove passed him and opened fire. Additional information about the suspects have not been released by the police department at this time. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
