WILMINGTON — Peter M. McDade, 90, passed away on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.

Peter was born in New York, N.Y., on Nov. 3, 1926, to the late Peter and Beatrice McDade. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Laurie Ann McDade.

Peter is survived by his loving wife, Signe; four children, Peter (Maria), James (Irene), Andrew (Stephanie) and Jon (Stephanie); seven grandchildren; and his sister, Beatrice McDade.

Peter served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked in the packaging and real estate industries for 50 years. He was a longtime member of The American Legion in New Jersey and North Carolina.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel.
